Why recycle?
Leather manufacturing industries generate an alarming amount of solid waste. On average, it’s around 50% of the initial raw material.
The untreated leather hide is biodegradable, but it must go through a tanning process to make leather workable and durable for use in a range of products. Tanning involves large amounts of water and several toxic chemicals that can contaminate the soil and waterways. Recycling leather scraps and offcuts from manufacturing processes and redirecting them into other industries divert usable materials from landfills, reduces the demand for virgin leather production and reduces the need for chemical tanning processes. That’s why we should all be making a conscious effort regarding our environmental impact, whether that’s reusing materials like leather or choosing to work alongside a manufacturer who has sustainable offerings and products.

A statistics from a leather good making factory, the average usage of all the leather is 75% only, which means there are 25% of it is wasted. How to make full use of it becomes a challenge.
